Implementation of the 2020 Geiot Program

We have been considering the implementation of the Geoit program in EY2020. Now we will implement it under the following policy.

1. Since Osaka Innovation Hub (OIH), which is used as a venue every year, has stopped holding live events in May, Geiot will also hold remote events in May, and if OIH get available after June^*, we switch to OIH implementation (transportation expenses will be provided as usual). When implementing at OIH, we will be sure to take appropriate measures such as wearing a mask or sitting away.
2. Participants will watch the lecture video by the main instructor, Professor Mitsui in advance, and on the day, we will have a question-and-answer session and group work through a webinar using webex, zoom, etc. The team will be composed on May 23 for the first time, but since it is difficult to face-to-face as a team, it will be allowed to move to different team later.
3. Guest lecturers will provide live remote lectures on the same day as possible to provide an opportunity for questions and answers on the spot. However, if it is difficult, a video recording will be individually viewed and a question and answer session will be set up separately.
4. The "hackathon" is basically fro prototyping of services such as mobile apps, but we also accept requests to prototype hardwares. However, instead of staying overnight or concentrating on development in one place, the development is to be distributed as much as possible. To facilitate focused prototyping, there will be regular time slots for progress reporting sessions during implementation hours.
5. Also for the “camp”, we would not stay overnight or concentrate on one location. Preliminary lectures (guidance guide, presentation creation, video creation), interim report, final result presentation will be conducted in a webinar format, and at other times, group-based online work will be performed.
6. As for prototyping A to D (technical training for applicants), remote training is premised, and shifts to on-the-job training step by step according to the level of alert release. In order to change from practice in team units to individual practice by remote implementation, themes that do not have the same number of equipment will be divided into groups and implemented on a different schedule (individually adjusted).
7. We use Google account for sharing lecture videos. Students who do not have a Google account must create an account in advance.
8. As a grand theme this year, we recommend entrepreneurship and innovation at After Corona (not mandatory).

The above policy is based on the epidemic situation of the new coronavirus as of May 14, and may be changed in the future due to changes in the situation.

* It means that "OIH has resumed the local event" and "elimination of unnecessary self-restraint as Nara Institute of Science and Technology" has been realized.

The current schedule is posted below (in Japanese only). Although the place of implementation is the case where it is not conducted online, it is planned to conduct all online at this time. Any changes will be announced here.
